WEDNESDAY, February 26, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Henclerson.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Byers, Silver, Nelson, Vandiver. Brown, Hubbard, Wrentz,

dan, Harden, Clark, Jones, Fooks, Hopkins—79.

The Speaker laid before the House a communication from
the Hon. Philip F. Thomas, covering the testimony and the
report of the Judiciary Committee of the Senate of the
United States, on his application to he admitted as a mem-
ber of the Senate,

With accompanying papers.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Federal Relations.

Mr. Robb presented the petition of Alex. Brown & Sons
in regard to taxes overpaid.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Boyer presented the petition of E. C. Johnson, Wm.
E. Cacy, and 35 other citizens of Kent county against the
repeal of the Funeral Law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Syester presented the petition of Philip Wingert and
others of Washington county, praying an alteration and
change of the law of distress and of ejecting tenants holding
over.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.
