Said bill was then sent to the Senate.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, moved a reconsideration of
the vote by which the bill entitled an Act supplementary
and amendatory to an Act passed at this session, entitled an
Act to amend the charter of the Cumberland and Pennsyl-
vania Rail Road Company, passed at January session, 1849,
chapter 469,

Was ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
Decided in the negative.

Mr. Syester, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, (the rules being suspended,) reported favorably

A bill entitled an Act to appropriate the sum of money
therein mentioned to pay John Stevens Sellman, of Anne
Arundel county, for his services as an Elector of the Senate
-of 1836.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Keech, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the fol-
lowing order:

Ordered, That Mr. Slingluff have leave of absence from
this House for to-day, on urgent professional business.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Sanner, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the
following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal of this House
that Messrs. Legg and Lowe are prevented from reaching
their seats in this House by the storm and ice.

Which was adopted.

Also,

The following :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Tunis,
Committee Clerk of this House, has been prevented from
reaching his post of duty by storm and ice.

Which was adopted.
