The House met, and was opened, with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Henderson.

The Speaker laid before the House the memorial of the
Orphans' Court and Register of Wills of Baltimore city,
asking an increase of pay to the bailiff of the Orphans' Court;
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Blake, Conway,
Chaisty, Mullin and Morse.
Also, the petition of Montgomery Johns, executor, to have
certain taxes refunded ;
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr. Clark presented the petition of Samuel Kerr Dashiell
and 42 citizens of Howard county, praying the passage of an
Act to continue in force the present school system till 15th
July, 1868.
Also, the petition of Eli Molesworth and twenty-eight
citizens of Howard county, praying the passage of an Act to
continue in force the present school svstem till 15th July,
1868;
Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Education.
Mr. Morse presented the petition of sundry citizens of Bal-
timore in relation to convict labor ;
Which was read and referred to the select committee on
that subject.
Mr. Maynard presented the memorial of James W.
Pearre and twenty-two citizens of Frederick county,
praying the passage of an Act to provide an annual pension
for Elizabeth G. Dorsey, of said county ;
Which was read and referred to the Frederick county del-
egation.
Mr. Latrobe presented the petition of A. Fuller Crane
and others, asking for an appropriation for the Aged Wo-
men's Home;
