TUESDAY, February 25, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Hammond.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Loker, Coad, Boyer, Ham
mond, Iglehart, Deale, Bond, of Calvert, Dalrymple, Chap-
man, Montague, Poteet, Holmes, Biddison, Rose, Corbin,
Percy, Stewart, of Dorchester, Johnson, Touchstone, Rich-
ards, Mearns, Keech, Guy, Williams, Sudler, Holloway,
Smith, of Worcester, Dutrow, Wenner, Bowlus, Maynard,
Byers, Silver, Vandiver, Brown, Moore, Hubbard, Sanner,
Wentz, Robb, Blake, Latrobe, Pentland, Smith, of Balti-
more city, Bond, of Baltimore city, Colton, Mullin, Chaisty,
McElroy, Harig, Markland, Marshall, Conway, Syester,
Coudy, Seibert, Riggs, Offutt, Conley, McCulloh, Kean,
Devecmon, Trimble, Hall, Davis, of Carroll, Jordan, Har-
den, Clark, Jones, Fooks, Hopkins—71.

Mr. Boyer presented the petition of C. J. Scott and thirty
other citizens, praying the passage of an Act to prevent
persons from riding and driving upon the sidewalk along
the public road leading from Galena to Georgetown, in Kent
county.

Which was read and referred to the Kent and Queen
Anne's delegations.

Mr. Silver presented a petition of sundry citizens of Har-
ford county, relative to the charter of the Cecil and Harford
county Boom Company.

Which was read and referred to the Cecil and Harford Dele-
gations.

Mr. Richards presented the petition of John A. Thompson,
Thomas Holton, and 64 other citizens of Cecil county, in op-
position to the repeal of the funeral law .

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Chapman presented the petition of Theodore Lyon and
other citizens of Charles county, praying the passage of an
Act continuing the present school system in force until July
15, 1868.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.
