On motion of Mr. Latrobe.

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill entitled an Act to incorporate and establish a
House of Refuge for male negroes or persons of color, in the
State of Maryland.

On motion of Mr. Touchstone.

Leave was granted to the Cecil delegation to introduce a
bill to repeal certain portions of the Act of 1860, chapter
303, of the General Assembly of Maryland, relating to the
Columbia and Port Deposit Rail Road Company.

Mr. McCulloh (the rules being suspended) presented the
petition of 35 citizens of Allegany county, asking the incor-
poration of the North Branch Lumber and Boom Company.

Also, the petition of 14 landholders, bordering on the
North Branch, asking the incorporation of the North Branch
Lumber and Boom Company.

Also, the petition of 50 citizens of Allegany county, ask-
ing the incorporation of the North Branch Lumber and Boom
Company.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Corporations.

Mr. Harden, (the rules being suspended,) presented the
petition of Charles R. Waters and 56 others, praying the
passage of a law, appointing a Tobacco Inspector for No. 6
Warehouse, of this State.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Inspec-
tions.

Mr. Iglehart. Chairman of the Committee on Corporations,
reported favorably, the

Senate bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act passed
at January session, 1866. chapter 55, entitled an Act to
incorporate the Baltimore and Liberty Turnpike Road Com-
pany, in Carroll county, and to amend the title of said Act of
1866, chapter 55, and to authorize the County Commission-
ers of Frederick county to subscribe to the capital stock of
said company.

Said bill being upon a second reading,

Mr. Latrobe submitted the following amendment:

Acid at end of section 2d, provided, that this company
shall not be entitled to charge tolls on any vehicles passing
over this road, for the purpose of going to or from funerals.

Which was adopted.

The bill as amended was then read a second time and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.
