Joint Resolution to repay to Henry P. Rose and
others the amount paid by them respectively on
receiving commissions as Constables, which com-
missions have been decided by the Court of Ap-
peals to be void.

 

WHEREAS, The Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more did, in the month of November, in the
year one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
seven, under a mistaken view of their powers
under the Constitution and laws of the State,
undertake to appoint as Constables for said city
the following named persons, that is to say :
For the First ward, Henry P. Rose, John Bat-
tee, Horatio Wallace and William H. Bryan ;
for the Second ward, William J. Smith and
William J. Bowling ; for the Third ward, Peter
