Road and Lutherville, and may demand and re-
ceive at the last name gate the same tolls or rates
as aforesaid, and enforce the collections thereof in
the same way.

By-laws.
|
Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That the stockholders
of said Company, in general meeting assembled,
or a majority of them, shall have power to make
and adopt such by-laws, rules and regulations for
the direction and management of said Company
as may in their judgment be necessary for the
purposes of their incorporation, not inconsistent
with the provisions of this Charter and the laws
and Constitution of this State, and the President
and Directors of said Company, or a majority of
them, shall constitute, appoint and employ such
officers, agents and servants for the construction,
repair and preservation of said road, and for the
receipt and collection of tolls, and transacting all
other business of said Company as in their judg-
ment may be necessary.

Hold land.
|
Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
pany shall have full power and authority to enter
upon and hold in fee any land necessary or proper
for the use of said road, and for the toll house or
toll houses to be erected in pursuance of this Act,
provided that not more than one acre of land shall
be deemed necessary for any one toll house, and
for this purpose may agree with the owner or
owners of said land for the same, or when they
cannot agree with such owner or owners, or should
he, she or they be feme covert, under age, non com-
pos mentis, or absent, then said Company shall
have power and authority to have condemned
such lands as may be necessary for the purposes
aforesaid, by inquisition in the following manner:

be made to any Justice of the Peace in Baltimore
County, who shall thereupon issue his warrant
under his hand and seal to the Sheriff of said
county, requiring him to summons a jury of the
inhabitants not related to the parties owning said
lands, or interested in said corporation, to meet on
the lands so wanted on a day named in said war-
rant, not less than ten nor more than twenty days
after issuing the same, and if at the said time and
place any of said jurors summoned do not attend,
