twenty-five in the hundred dollars in any one
year, and may appoint and qualify a person to col-
lect the same, and if the Collector of the county
taxes for the election or other district in which
Chestertown is situated shall be appointed, it shall
not be lawful for him to decline receiving and act-
ing upon the said appointment, or refuse to execute
his bond for the performance of his duty, accord-
ing to law and as provided in section forty-seven
of the said Code of Public Local Laws, title Kent
county, sub-title Chestertown.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 382.

AN ACT to make valid the bequest made by
Thomas B. Kessler, late of Frederick county,
State of Maryland, to Peter Beard, in trust for
the use and benefit of Mount Zion German Re-
formed Church of Frederick county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it is represented to this General As-
sembly of Maryland, that Thomas B. Kessler, late
of Frederick county, State of Maryland, deceased,
by his last will and testament dated on the twenty-
eight day of January, 1868, among other things,
bequeathed to Peter Beard the sum of one thou-
sand dollars in trust for the benefit of Mount Zion
German Reformed Church cf Frederick county ;
and whereas the said Peter Beard died soon after
the death of said Thomas B. Kessler, without re-
ceiving said legacy or executing said trust ; and
whereas letters testamentary with the will annexed
of said Thomas B. Kessler, deceased, have been
granted to the Orphans' Court for Frederick
county, to Joseph N. Beard, Samuel N. Holter
and Samuel Getzendamer, and said German Re-
