liability to the State, incurred by securityship on
the bond of Alexander Knotts, a former Sheriff of
Caroline County.

State's Attor-
ney to with-
draw suit.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted. That the State's At-
torney for Caroline County is hereby empowered
and directed to withdraw any suit or suits, and
stay all legal proceedings which may have been
instituted by the State of Maryland against the
said Thomas Jarrell and Esma Lowe, as sureties
of Alexander Knotts, former Sheriff of Caroline
County aforesaid, on the payment by said Thomas
Jarrell and Esma Lowe, of all costs attendant on
the prosecution of said suits.

In force.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from and after the day of its passage.

Approved March 30, 1868.

 

CHAPTER 328.

AN ACT to provide for the Collection of Taxes
in Baltimore County.

Repealed.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Sections 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60,
61, 62, of Article three, Public Local Laws for
Baltimore County, sub-title "Collections," be
and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted,
and adding new Sections to read as follows :

Divide into
districts.

Sec. 55. And be it enacted. That the County
Commissioners of Baltimore County are hereby
required and directed to divide Baltimore County
into not less than Thirteen Tax Collection Dis-
tricts.

Number to be
appointed.

Sec. 56. And be it enacted, That the County
Commissioners of Baltimore County are hereby
empowered and required to appoint not less than
Thirteen Collectors of Taxes for Baltimore County,
upon the first Tuesday in May of each and every
