CHAPTER 326.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to com-
pensate Dr. James Higgins for a work of his,
published by order of the Legislature, for the
use of the State.

WHEREAS the General Assembly of Maryland,
at its Session of January, eighteen hundred and
sixty-seven, ordered to be published for general
circulation in and out of the State, an original
work, by Dr. James Higgins, of Anne Arundel
County ; and whereas, such work has been pub-
lished and owned by the State, for its use and
benefit ; and whereas, no compensation has ever
been made to the said Dr. James Higgins ; there-
fore :

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the sum of one thousand dol-
lars be, and the same is hereby appropriated to
pay for said service, and the Treasurer of the
State is hereby directed to pay the same upon the
warrant of the Comptroller, to Dr. James Higgins.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 327.
AN ACT to release Thomas Jarrell and Esma
Lowe from liabilities to the State, incurred by
securityship, and the bond of Alexander Knotts,
of Caroline County.

Lowe, be and they are hereby released from all
