So the motion to strike out the enacting clause,

Did not prevail.

Mr. Legg submitted the following amendment:

That the words "State Librarian" be stricken out where-
over It occurs, and that the following words be inserted in
lieu thereof: the School Commissioners of the respective
counties and of the city of Baltimore.

Which was rejected.

The bill was then read a second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Brown,

The bill was then referred to the Committee on Ways and

Means.

The bill entitled an Act appropriating a sum of money to

be expended in removing the remains of the Confederate dead
who fell in the battles of South Mountain and Antietam, or
died of wounds received in said battles to the Antietam Na-
tional Cemetery,

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Wenncr submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 1, line 7, insert after the word "Mountain," the word
Crampton's Gap.

Which was adopted.
The bill as amended,

Was then read a second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1864, chapter
405, relating to the establishment of a uniform system of con-
tracting for public printing,

Was read a second time.

Mr. Brown moved to amend the bill by striking out the

2d section.

The amendment was rejected.

The said bill was then ordered to be engrossed for a third
reading.

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Opake Zinc
Company,
