shall have all the privileges and franchises of a
Corporation, may sue and be sued, plead and be
impleaded in any Court of law or equity, may have
and use a common seal, and the same alter, amend
and renew at their pleasure, and make all by-laws,
rules and regulations necessary for the regulation
of the business of said Company, such by-laws not
to be inconsistent with the laws of the United
States or the State of Maryland.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the sum so sub-
scribed for the stock of said Company shall be paid
to the President and Directors aforesaid, in such
installments and at such times as they may appoint
and require.

Installments.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That the President
and Directors of said Company shall manage and
direct the affairs and concerns of said Company,
and three of the Directors and the President shall
constitute a quorum for the transaction of any bu-
siness, and if any vacancy occurs in the presidency,
a President shall be elected by the Directors to
serve until the next election by the stockholders.

Sec. 8. And be it enacted. That the President
and Directors, or a majority of them, shall lay out
the said road over the route as specified in the first
Section of this Act, unless in their opinion the best
interests of the road require either an entire or
partial change of route, and may, at any time
hereafter, extend said road to North Point, and
erect additional toll-gates thereon, together with
the power to locate said road and charge tolls at
the same rate according to distance as hereinafter
provided for.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That in case the said
Board of Directors shall not be able to agree with
the owner or owners of any land over or through
whose lands the said road may be made, it shall
be lawful for said Company to cause any Justice
of the Peace of Baltimore County to issue his war-
rant to the Sheriff of said county, directing him
to summon twenty impartial jurors to meet on said
land on a day to be therein named, giving at least
five days' notice to the parties interested or their
agents, and after four of the jurors so summoned
are stricken off the panel by the said President or
