Mr, Markland submitted the following order :

Ordered. That the Clerk of this House be authorized to
have a cold air flue arranged to this House at the earliest
possible day.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Hall submitted the following order :

Ordered, That William Devecmon have leave of absence
for four days.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Brown submitted the following order :

Whereas, it has been stated that the schools of the several
counties will shortly be closed for want of funds ; therefore,,
ordered, that a committee of three be appointed to investigate
and report to this House the reasons of this failure of funds,
and that said committee confer with the State Treasurer as
to the remedy for this state of affairs.

Which was adopted,

And Messrs. Brown, Stewart, of Dorchester and Keecli con-
stituted said committee.

On motion of Mr. Mull in,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to repeal and re-enact with amendments,
sections 17 and 18, of Article 78, of the Code of Public Gene-
ral Laws, entitled Refuge, House of, and relating to the
binding out by the Managers of the House of Refuge, of chil-
dren committed to their care, and to the manner of receiving
inmates into said House.

Also, leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and
Means to introduce a bill to repeal and re-enact with amend-
ments section 7, of Article 18, of the Code of Public General
Laws, entitled Clerks of Courts, and relating to the time and
manner for payment into the Treasury of the State, of all public
money received by the Clerks of Courts.

On motion of Mr. Latrobe,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Latrobe, Harig, Sanner,
Bond, of Baltimore city, Marshall and Morse, to introduce a
bill to amend the 86th and 87th sections of Article 4, of the
Code of Public Local Laws for Baltimore city, entitled Auc-
tions.

On motion of Mr. Mullin,
