WEDNESDAY, February 5th, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Leech.
Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Loker, Coad, Boyer, Ham-
mond, Iglehart, Deale, Dalrymple, Mitchell, Chapman,
Nicolai, Slingluff, Holmes, Biddison, Rose, Lowe, Corhin,
Horsey, Stewart, of Dorchester, Johnson, Davis, of Cecil,
Touchstone, Richards, Mearns, Keech, Guy, Williams,
Smith, of Worcester, Albaugh, Dutrow, Wenner, Bow-
lus, Maynard, Byers, Silver, Vandiver, Brown, Moore,
Hubbard, Wentz, Robb, Morse, Latrohe, Pentlaiid, Smith,
of Baltimore city, Bond, of Baltimore city, Colton, Mullin,
Chaisty, Harig, Markland, Conway, Syester, Coudy, Her-
bert, Rohrer, Seibert, Riggs, Conley, McCulloh, Kean,
Devecmon, Trimble. Hall, Davis, of Carroll, Jordan, Worth-
ington, Harden, Clark, Jones, Hopkins—71.

The Speaker laid before the House the petition of R. Q.
Tdylor and 230 others, asking a modification of the Sunday law
in relation to the sale of drugs, mineral water and ice cream.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Boyer presented the petition of George A. Barton,
John H. Ruth, and 20 other citizens, praying the passage of
an Act to incorporate the Independent Order of Odd-Fellows
at Church Hill, in Queen Anne's county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

Mr. Stewart, of Dorchester, presented a petition signed
by the County Commissioners of Dorchester County, and 30
other citizens, asking the passage of an Act allowing an in-
creased compensation to the Sheriff for keeping prisoners.

Which was read and referred to the Dorchester delegation.

Mr. Rose submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Lowe.
member of this House, and Mr. Tunis, Committee Clerk,
were necessarily absent yesterday.

Which was adopted.
