CHAPTER 146.
AN ACT to add. additional sections to the Act of
eighteen hundred and sixty-seven Chapter
three hundred and seventy-seven, to be em-
braced in the twenty-second Article of the Sup-
plemental Code of Public Local Laws for Wi-
comico County, sub-title, 'Salisbury,' to follow
section ten of said Article.

SECTION 11. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the said Town Commissioners
of the town of Salisbury, or a majority of them,
shall have full power and authority to straighten
and widen old streets, and to open, lay out and
grade new ones, whenever in their judgment the
same may be necessary, or that the public con-
venience and improvement may require it, and they
or a majority of them shall have full power to pro-
vide for the payment of damages and expenses in-
curred by opening, widening or straightening the
streets as aforesaid, by levying and assessing the
same generally upon the whole of the assessable
property of said town, or upon the property of
persons benefitted thereby.

Sec. 12. And be it enacted, That the Commission-
ers who shall hereafter be elected, as provided for in
the third section of this Article, shall qualify before
the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Wicomico
County, and not as provided for in the fourth sec-
tion of the said Article.

Sec. 13. And be it enacted, That the Bailiffs
appointed by the said Commissioners shall qualify
before the Clerk of the Circuit Court of said
county, whose bond shall be approved by the Com-
missioners of Wicomico County, and not before a
Justice of the Peace and the County Commission-
ers, as provided for, in section seven of this Article.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from and after the date of its passage.
