JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 4,

(the rules being suspended) reported favorably a bill entitled
an Act to protect clams and shell-fish in Worcester county.

Which was read a first time and ordered to be printed.

On motion of Mr. Wentz,
(The rules being suspended)

Leave was granted to the Committee on Claims to introduce
a bill to refund to Andrew J. George, Clerk of Baltimore City
Court, $200 paid for commission as Clerk of said Court.

On motion of Mr. Nicolai,
(The rules being suspended)

Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means
to report a bill to make an appropriation for the purpose of
procuring a life size portrait of His Excellency, Thomas
Swann, Governor of Maryland.

The House then resumed the consideration of the second
order of the day,

Being the bill entitled an Act to increase the number of
free scholarships in the Baltimore Female College, and to
change the manner of appointing the beneficiaries and Board
of Trustees.

Said bill being upon a third reading,

The bill was then read a third time and rejected, by yeas
and nays as follows :
