and empowered to issue capital stock of said Bank
of the par value of ten dollars for each and every
share of said stock ; and whereas, the said Bank
is of itself the holder and owner of four thousand
five hundred and eighty-seven of said shares so
issued, and is desirous of canceling and extinguish-
ing the same. Therefore,

Extinguish
stock.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the " Howard Bank,' in the
city of Baltimore, be and is hereby authorized and
empowered to cancel and extinguish four thousand
five hundred and eighty-seven shares of its capital
stock owned and held by said Bank, the same be-
ing of the par value of ten dollars for each and

every share of said stock.

In force.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Approved March 7, 1868.

CHAPTER 106.

AN ACT to repeal Section one hundred and
ninety-four of Article two of the Public Local
Laws, entitled "Anne Arundel County/' sub-
title, " Sheriff" and to re-enact another Section
in lieu thereof, relating to the fees of Sheriffs
for keeping and boarding prisoners.

Repealed and
re-enacted.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Section one hundred aad ninety-
four of the Second Article of Public Local Laws,
entitled "Anne Arundel County/' sub-title " Sher-
iff," be and the same is hereby repealed, and the
following Section re-enacted and substituted there-
for:

Fifty cents
per day.

Sec; 194. The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County
shall be allowed for keeping and boarding each
prisoner committed to the jail of said county the
sum of fifty cents per day, to be levied and col-
lected according to law.
