The following communication from his Excellency, Gover- nor Swann, was received and read : EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT, ANNAPOLIS, March 28,1868. Gentlemen of the Senate: I have this day signed and transmitted to the Clerk of the Court of Appeals, the following bills received from your Honorable Body on the 24th and 25th instants : An Act to authorize the Atlantic and George's Creek Coal Company of Baltimore, to reduce its capital stock, and to levy an assessment upon the said reduced number of shares. An Act to repeal section 36, Article 19, of the Public Local Laws, title "Somerset County," regulating the terms of the Circuit Court for Somerset county, and to re-enact the same with amendments. An Act to endow the St. Mary's Female Seminary. A Supplement to an Act entitled an Act to incorporate the Baltimore and Havana Steamship Company, passed at January session, in the year 1866, chapter 54. An Act to incorporate the Emmittsburg Rail Road Com- pany. An Act to amend sections 146 and 147, of the 81st Article of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to the payment of public monies by Clerks and Registers of Wills. An Act to amend the 7th section of the 18th Article of the Code of Public General Laws, providing for the payment of public monies by Clerks of Courts. An Act to repeal section 3, of an Act entitled an Act incorporating the Maryland Institute for the promotion of the Mechanics' Arts, passed December session, 1849, chap- ter 114, and to enact a substitute therefor, and to add addi- tional sections thereto as sections 8 and 9. An Act to repeal section 30, Article 47, of the Code of Public General Laws, and to re-enact the same with amend- ments. An Act to repeal 89th section, Article 16, of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Chancery," and relating to process against non-resident infant defendants, as amended by the Act of 1864, chapter 89, and to insert in said Article in lieu of the section so repealed, the following section relating to process against non-resident infant defendants. |
