I will add that the Committee on the Library have examined the expenditures of the Library, including my vouchers, and I respectfully refer you to Dr. Brewer, Senator from Mont- gomery, who is Chairman of the Committee on the Library. JORDAN, State Librarian, A statement showing the salaries of the officers of the Treasury Department and their clerks, to wit : Salary of State Treasurer..................................... $2,500 " Clerk to Treasurer..................................... 1,500 " Comptroller.............................................. 2,500 " Chief Clerk to Comptroller............................ 1,500 " First Assistant Clerk to Comptroller.............. 1,200 " Second Assistant Clerk to Comptroller........... 1,000 The comptroller having dispensed with the services of two clerks, which he had employed to assist in the adjustment of bounty claims, he now respectfully asks the Committee on Retrenchment to allow him and the Treasurer to employ a messenger for the use of both offices, at a salary of $600 per annum. Mr. Walsh, from the Committee on Elections, reported. favorably House bill entitled an Act to amend and re-enact section 213, of Article 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title City of Baltimore, sub-title "Elections." Which was read a second time. Mr. Denson, from a select committee, reported favorably House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 623, of Article 4, of Public Local Laws, entitled City of Baltimore, sub- title "Justices of the Peace and Constables," and to re- enact the same and substitute the following in lieu thereof. Which was read a second time. Mr. Maddox, from a select committee, reported favorably House bill entitled an Act to regulate the time of holding the respective Circuit Courts for the several counties com- prising the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Maryland, and to repeal the Local Laws for the said counties in reference thereto.
