1868.] OF THE SENATE. 659 1868, chapter 39, entitled an Act to authorize the Delaware Rail Road Company to extend a branch railroad across the State line into Kent county, Maryland, and to re-enact the same with amendments. Which was read a second time. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered House bill entitled an an Act to provide for the annual levy of State taxes on the real and personal property of this State, under the assessment of 1866. Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit- tee on Finance. Also, delivered House bill entitled an Act granting to certain soldiers and the widows of soldiers of the war of 1812, a pension of eighty dollars per annum to be paid in quarterly instalments. Which waa read the first time and referred to the Commit- tee on Pensions. On motion by Mr. Compton, The Senate took a recess until 5 o'clock this afternoon. AFTERNOON SESSION. WEDNESDAY, March 25th, 1868. At 5.15 the Senate met, pursuant to adjournment. Present at roll call : Messrs. President, Browne, Brewer, Clarke, Carroll, Earle, Fields, Henkle, Hyland, Kimmel, Maddox, Snyder, Walsh, Welch—14. House bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1867, chap- ter 366, entitled an Act making appropriations for the sup- port of the Government for the year ending on the first day of January, 1869, and to substitute the following in lieu thereof, Was taken up on its third reading, and Mr. Earle offered the following amendment : |
