1868.] OF THE SENATE. 61 AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. Browne, Hyland, Biggs, Kimmel, Brewer, Lee, Clarke, Maddox, Carroll, Miller, Denson, Parker; of Calvert, Earle, Spates, Henkle, Snyder—16. NEGATIVE—None. The bill was then returned to the House of Delegates. House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 18 of Article 73, of the Public General Laws, entitled Penitentiary, an' to re-enact the same with amendments, Was taken up, And Mr. Snyder offered the following amendments : Amend section 1 by inserting in line 6 after the word Pen- itentiary, the following : and for the sale of the manufac- tures in the Institution. Amend section 1, line 7, by inserting after the word "proper," the following: and may employ such agent or agents for the purchase of articles or goods wanted by the Institution, and allow the agents so employed such compen- sation as the Directors may deem right and proper. On motion by Mr. Kimmel, The further consideration of the bill and amendments was postponed, and Mr. Maddox reported the House school bill with a substi- tute therefor. Which was ordered to be printed. Mr. Denson moved an adjournment until 8 o'clock this evening. Which was determined in the negative by yeas and nays as follows: AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. Biggs, Denson—2.
