Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the Directors of the Maryland Penitentiary to construct Dormitory Buildings for the accommodation of the convicts in said prison and make an appropriation therefor, Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower the county Commissioners of the respective counties of the State to purchase from Abner Campbell a patent for a General In- dex Book, and to levy a sum sufficient to pay for the same, Was read a second time , and its engrossment being refused, the bill was lost. Senate bill entitled an Act to prevent the spread of Pleuro Pneumonia, and other contagious diseases among cattle in this State, Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays as follows: AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Lee, Biggs, Miller, Brewer, Parker, of Calvert, Clarke, Spates, Carroll, Snyder, Henkle, Walsh—13. Hyland, NEGATIVE—Mr. Grove—1. The bill was then sent to the House of Delegates. Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal section 189 of Article 8 of the Public Local Laws for Cecil county entitled Sheriff, and to re-enact the same as follows, Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. Senate bill entitled an Act to add a new Article to the Code of Public Local Laws, to be entitled Public Roads in Caroline county, Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. Senate bill entitled an Act incorporating the Western Mary- land College, Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
