1868.] OF THE SENATE. 591 House bill entitled an Act to levy a tax upon all Banking Institutions doing business in this State, in augmentation of the Free School Fund of this State, Was read a third time and passed by yeas and nays as follows: AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Hyland, Browne, Kimmel, Biggs, Lee, Brewer, Miller, Clarke, Parker, of Calvert, Carroll, Spates, Earle, Snyder, Grove, Smith, Henkle, Walsh—18. NEGAIVE—None. The bill was then returned to the House of Delegates. Senate bill entitled an Act to grant pensions to Hannah Williams, of Baltimore county, widow of Jno. Williams, a soldier of the war of 1812, Wm. Barnes of Harford county, John Banbletz and Edward Burnham, both of Baltimore county, and Wm. Heckrolle of Baltimore city, Was taken up. And Mr. Clarke offered the following amendments : Amend by inserting the names of Valentine Alexander, Adam Gower, Elisha M. Crobie, John M. Crobie, William Paxton, John Russell, George Zimmerly, Frederick Lee, Thomas E. Drane, Elizabeth Dawson, Catherine Furlow, Sarah Ann Brant, Nancy Valentine, Eva Lee, Desire L. Hoffman, soldiers and widows of the war of 1812, residing in Allegany county. Jane Buckley, widow of Robert L. Buckley, of Baltimore county. Elizabeth Wier, Elizabeth Cook, Susanna Selby, of Car- roll county, widows of soldiers of the war of 1812. Margaret T. Somerville, of Prince George's county, widow of Thomas Somerville. Jasper T. Bowen, Sarah Dawkins, Martha Kirkshaw. Margaret McKennie, of Calvert county. Amend the title by striking out all after the word Act, and insert in lieu thereof the words "to grant pensions to the persons therein named." Which were adopted, and |
