On motion by Mr. Earle, Leave was granted to the Senators from Queen Anne's, Calvert, and Anne Arundel to report a bill to repeal section 24 of Article 47 of the Code of Public General Laws, enti- tled Inheritance, and to re-enact the same with an amend- ment. On motion by Mr. Lee, Leave was granted to the Senators from Prince George's, Carroll, and Dorchester to introduce a bill to allow payment for slaves upon, proof to the Comptroller that they were taken into the military service of the United States, although not appearing upon such muster-rolls as furnished to the Comp- troller. House bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact with amendments sections 33, 34, 35, 39, and 75 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled Revenue and Taxes, and re- lating to the appointment and the bonds to be given by, and compensation paid to the collectors of State taxes, Was taken up, and On motion by the several Senators concerned, The following amendment was offered : At the end of section 34 insert : Provided, however, the provisions of this Act shall not apply to Baltimore county, Allegany county, Charles county, Montgomery county, Somerset county, Wicomico county, and Anne Arundel county.
