1868.] OF THE SENATE. 527 REPORT. To the Honorable the Senate and House, of Delegates of Maryland: The Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Delegates, appointed to consider and report upon the expediency of re- moving the State Tobacco Warehouses from their present location to deep water, respectfully submit that they have duly considered the many important questions embraced within the scope of their inquiry, and have diligently inves- tigated and examined into the reasons pro and con for said removal. After a patient consideration of the question, a large majority of the committee have concluded to make the fol- lowing resolution as their report: Resolved, That the sense of this committee is, that there exists no sufficient reason at this time for the removal of any of the Tobacco Warehouses from their present location, but we recommend the creation of an auction system for the sale of tobacco, and the procuring of a room for that purpose, said room to be located convenient to the present warehouses, so that all planters preferring that mode of sale, may avail themselves of the same.
