1868.] OF THE SENATE. 527

REPORT.

To the Honorable the Senate and
House, of Delegates of Maryland:

The Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Delegates,
appointed to consider and report upon the expediency of re-
moving the State Tobacco Warehouses from their present
location to deep water, respectfully submit that they have
duly considered the many important questions embraced
within the scope of their inquiry, and have diligently inves-
tigated and examined into the reasons pro and con for said
removal.

After a patient consideration of the question, a large
majority of the committee have concluded to make the fol-
lowing resolution as their report:

Resolved, That the sense of this committee is, that there
exists no sufficient reason at this time for the removal of any
of the Tobacco Warehouses from their present location, but
we recommend the creation of an auction system for the sale
of tobacco, and the procuring of a room for that purpose,
said room to be located convenient to the present warehouses,
so that all planters preferring that mode of sale, may avail
themselves of the same.

Your committee respectfully ask to be discharged from
further consideration of the subject.

JAMES H. GROVE,
J. F. LEE,
HENRY SNYDER,
Senate Committee.

THOS. E. WILLIAMS,
