1868.] OF THE SENATE. 447 FRIDAY, March 13th, 1868. Senate met pursuant to adjournment. Prayer by Rev. Father Burke. Present at roll call: Messrs. President, Browne, Biggs, Brewer, Clarke, Carroll, Denson, Hyland, Hammond, Lee, Miller, Spates, Snyder, Smith, Walsh, Welch—16. The Usury bill being the unfinished business of yester- day, was taken up on the amendment offered by Mr. Carroll. On motion by Mr. Earle, The bill was laid on the table. Mr. Hammond presented the petition of sundry citizens of Talbot county, in reference to levying a tax to build a mar- feet house in Easton, Which was referred to the Senators from Talbot, Caroline and Queen Anne. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow- ing bills: A bill entitled an Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to incorporate a company to build a turnpike road from the Georgetown Turnpike to the public road lending from Adamstown to Greenfield Mills, passed by the General As- sembly of Maryland at its January session in the year 1860, chapter 323. Which was read a first time, And referred to the Committee on Corporations. A bill entitled an Act to amend the charter of the Phila- delphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Rail Road Company. Which was read a first time, And referred to the Committee on Financee. A bill entitled an Act to authorize, empower and require the County Commissioners of Allegany county to levy a cer- tain sum of money fur Daniel Duncan, late Sheriff of Alle- gany county. Which was read a first time, And referred to the Senators from Allegany, Harford and Cecil. |
