336 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 29, Mr. Hammond submitted the following amendments : Insert in section 4, line 4, after the word labor, either by reason of permanent disability, or that said disability existed at the time at which his services were required. Amend 4th section: Strike out person and insert non-taxpayer. Mr. Hyland moved that the Senate adjourn. Which was determined in the negative by yeas and nays as follows: AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. Hyland, Snyder.—3 Parker, of Calvert, NEGATIVE. Messrs. Earle, Miller, Grove, Malone, Henkle, Spates, Hammond, Smith, Maddox, Welch—10. The amendments were adopted, and The bill as amended ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered House bill entitled an Act granting the assent of the Gen- eral Assembly of Maryland, to a legacy bequeathed by the last will and testament of Lydia Styer, late of Allegany county, deceased, to the English Lutheran Church at Frost- burg. Which was read the first time and referred to the Com- mittee on Judicial Proceedings. Also delivered, House bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Mutual Fire- Insurance Company of Prince George's county. Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit- tee on Corporations. Also, House bill entitled an Act to declare the sanction of the General Assembly of Maryland, to the bequest of Catharine Morton, late of Calvert county, deceased, to the vestry of St. Paul's Parish in said county. Which was read the first time and referred to the Com- mittee on Judicial Proceedings. |
