Said bill being upon a second reading,

Mr. Smith, of Worcester, submitted the following amend-
ment :

Add after the word " Machinery," in third line of second
section, the words, in conjunction with the Comptroller of
the Treasury.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, submitted the following
amendment:

In the 2d line, strike out all from the word "the" to the
word "Senate," inclusive, and insert the words, by the
Legislature on joint ballot of the two Houses.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Mullin submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 6, line 6, strike out the word "four," and insert the
word " two."

Which was adopted.

Mr. Offutt submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 6. Strike out in line 5, the word " five," and insert
the word ten.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, submitted the following
amendment as a substitute for section 7 :

Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That the qualification for Super-
intendent of Public Printing, shall be the same as are pre-
scribed in the Constitution for Members of the General As-
sembly, and in addition thereto, he shall be experienced in
the practice and skilled in the business of printing.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Nelson submitted the following amendment:
Strike out the 8th section.
Which was adopted.

The bill as amended, was then read a second time, and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Wentz (the rules being suspended,) submitted the fol-
lowing order :

Ordered, That the State Superintendent be requested to
furnish each member of the Maryland House of Delegates
with one copy of his first annual report.

Which was adopted.
