Mr. Blake submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Committee appointed by this House, in
conjunction with a similar Committee from the Senate, to
examine into the condition of the Maryland Penitentiary
Buildings, be also required to examine the books and accounts
of the institution, as is the usual custom.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Keech,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Expiring Laws to
introduce a bill to continue in force the Act of 1867, chapter
189, entitled an Act to provide for taking and perpetuating
the evidence of the number of persons held to labor and ser-
vice in the State of Maryland, &c., for one year from March
22d, 1868.

On motion of Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to repeal section 178 and section 179, of
Article 30, of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to
Sabbath breaking and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments

On motion of Mr. Worthington,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to re-
port a bill to incorporate the Manchester Railroad Company.

On motion of Mr. Montague,

Leave was granted to Select Committee on Philadelphia,
Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad, to introduce a bill to
amend the charter of the Philadelphia, Wilmington and
Baltimore Railroad Company.

On motion of Mr. Wentz,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Education to in-
troduce a bill to authorize the Treasurer, upon the warrant
of the Comptroller, to pay Simon J. Martenet, $7, for each
map to be furnished each of the Public Schools in the State.

On motion of Mr. Montague,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill to amend the charter of the Associated Fireman's
Insurance Company.

On motion of Mr. Herbert,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to incorporate the Johns Hopkins Fir6, Ma-
rine and Accidental Insurance Company of Maryland.
