company shall be, and they are hereby incorporated and'
constituted a body politic, by the name of the Deer Park
Turnpike Road Company in Baltimore county, and by the
same name shall have succession during the continuance of
this corporation; and the said stockholders and their suc-
cessors, by the above authority, may sue and besued, answer
and be answered, in any Court of Law or Equity in this
State, and may adopt and use a common seal, and may do
and execute every other matter and thing by the name afore-
said that they are authorized to do by virtue of this Act.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That the President and Direc-
tors, after their election as hereinbefore provided for, shall
have full power to receive additional subscriptions for the
completion of said road, and said President and Di-
rectors are hereby invested with all the rights and powers
necessary to the construction of said road, on the bed of the-
county road called the Deer Park road, or as nearly as may
be practicable so to do, making an artificial bed of stone, not
less than sixteen feet in breadth.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted. That the President and Di-
rectors of said company shall have full power to widen the
said road, whenever and wherever it shall be found necessary
for construction of the same.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That as soon as the said com-
pany shall have completed three miles of said road, and so
on from time to time a like distance of three miles, they shall
give notice to the County Commissioners of Baltimore county,
who shall thereupon appoint three judicious and disinterested
persons to view and examine the same, and report to the said
County Commissioners whether the said road is so far com-
pleted in a workmanlike manner, according to the true in-
tent and meaning of this Act ; and if their report be in the
affirmative, the said County Commissioners shall issue to the
President and Directors of said company a license to erect and
fix such and so many toll gates upon and across the said
road as will be necessary and sufficient to collect the tolls
and duties hereinafter granted to the said company from all
persons traveling on the same with horses, cattle, wagons,
carts and carriages.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said company hav-
ing completed the road, or so much thereof from time-
to time as aforesaid, it shall or may be lawful for
them to appoint such and so many toll-gatherers as
they shall think proper, to collect and receive of and
from all and every person or persons using the said
road, the tolls and rates hereinafter mentioned, and to
stop any person riding, leading or driving any horse,
mares or gelding, cattle, sheep, hogs, sulky, chaise, chair,
