248 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 19,

After a short session the Senate resumed the consideration
of Legislative business.

The President presented the petition of citizens of Charles
county, in regard to the repeal of the Funeral Law.
Messrs. Maddox and Fields presented similar petitions.

Which were referred to the Committee on Corporations.

The President presented the response of Wm. Blockinger,
Principal of Franklin Institute, to an order of the Senate.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.
On motion by Mr. Maddox,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Chesapeake
Bay and its Tributaries to introduce a bill to repeal section
30, chapter 184, of the Act of 1867, entitled Oysters, and re-
enact the same with, amendment.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Pro-
ceedings to report a bill to repeal sections 160 and 218 of
Article 93 of the Code of Public General Laws, title Testa-
mentary Law, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion by Mr. Parker, of Worcester,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Worcester, Wi-
comico and Somerset to introduce a bill to authorize and
empower the Register of Wills for Worcester county to grant
orders of sale in the recess of the Orphans' Court.

On motion by Mr. Grove,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to in-
troduce a bill to incorporate a company to construct a Turn-
pike Road from Williamsport, in Washington county, to the
Washington county Rail Road.

Mr. Maddox, from the Committee on Education, reported
Senate bill entitled an Act to endow the St. Mary's Semi-
nary.

Which, was read the first time.

Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, reported
Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Mutual Fire
Insurance Company of St. Mary's county.

Which was read the first time.
Also,

Reported favorably House bill entitled an Act to incorpo-
rate the " Monumental Savings Institution."

Which was read the second time.
