for a third reading.

Mr. Earle also reported

A bill entitled an Act to pay Cushings & Bailey, J. E. G.
Munroe and Thomas A. McKibbin.

Which was read the first time.

Also,

Eeported unfavorably

Senate bill entitled an Act to allow William Button, col-
lector of State and county taxes, of Baltimore county, further
time to complete his collections.

Which wag read,

And the report concurred in.

On motion by Mr. Miller, it was

Ordered, That the President of the Senate appoint an
Assistant Sergeant- at-Arms, who shall act as such during
the absence of the Sergeant-at-Arms upon business connected
with, the Senate.

On motion by Mr. Welch, it was

Ordered, That leave of absence be "granted to the Post-
master of the Senate on account of sickness in his family.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported un-
favorably

House bill entitled an Act requiring the County Commis-
sioners of Prince George's county to levy a sum of money to
repair and extend the bridge and abutments across the
Eastern Branch, at Bladensburg, on the road leading to
Washington.

Which was read, and the report of the committee con-
curred in%

Mr. Lee presented a petition of citizens of Prince George's
county in regard to the public printing.

Which was referred to the Committee on Printing.
