Mr. Henkle offered the following amendment to the order
contained in the above communication :

Amend at end, by adding,

And further, that the said committee be authorized and
empowered to extend their inquiries and investigations to
all other subjects of legislation before the last Senate, in con-
nection with which there may have been rumors or charges
of corruption and fraud, and that no member of the last Sen-
ate shall be appointed upon the said committee.

Which was adopted.

The order as amended was then adopted, and,

The President appointed, as the investigating committee,
Messrs. Miller, Lee, Carroll, Smith and Hammond.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to re-
port a bill to require the several Clerks of the County Com-
missioners and the Clerk of the Appeal Tax Court in Balti-
more City, to make out a copy of the revised assessment of
1866, and return the same to the Comptroller of the Treas-
ury.

On motion by Mr Fields,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Fields, Malone and Brewer,
to introduce a bill entitled an Act to amend Article 51 of the
Code of Public General Laws, in relation to Justices of the
Peace, by adding thereto the following sections.

On motion by Mr. Miller,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
bring in a bill to incorporate the "Metropolitan Gas Light
Company of the city of Baltimore."

On motion by Mr. Fields,

Leave was granted to a select committee to introduce a bill
entitled an Act to repeal sections 98 and 100, of Article 30,
of the Code of Public General Laws, in relation to Crimes
and Punishments, and to substitute therefor the following
sections.

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill to incorporate the Emmittsburg Rail Road Com-
pany.

House bill entitled an Act fixing the mileage of members
and officers of the General Assembly of Maryland,

Being the order of the day, was taken up on its passage.

Mr. Henkle submitted the following amendment.
