TUESDAY, February 11, 1868.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Father Burke.
Present at roll'call:

Messrs. President, Browne, Brewer, C'arroll, Denson,
Fields, Grove, Henkle, Hyland, Hammond, Lee, Maddox,
Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Spates, Snyder, Smith, Walsh,
Welch—19.

Mr. Snyder presented the petition of certain tax-payers
of Baltimore city, asking that an appropriation of money be
made for the benefit of Washington University of Baltimore.

Which was referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Smith presented the petition of E. W. Lecompt and
fifty-two other citizens of Dorchester county, asking a change
in Article 98 of the Code of Public General Laws.

Which was read and referred to the Senators from Dor-
chester, Caroline and Talbot counties.

Mr. Grove presented the petition of Jesse H. Berry and
others of Boonsboro', Washington county, Maryland.

Which was referred to the Committee on Corporations.

Mr. Clarke presented petitions from public school teachers
and citizens of Baltimore county asking the continuance of
the present school system until 15th of July, 1868.

Which were referred to the Committee on Education.

Mr. Smith presented similar petitions.

Which were referred to the Committee on Education.

Mr. Malone presented a similar petition.

Which was also referred to the Committee on Education.

Mr. Hyland presented a petition from citizens of Trappe
District, Somerset county, for the enlargement of said
district.

Which was referred to the Senators from Somerset, Wicom-
ico and Worcester.

Mr. Malone presented the petition of Sundry citizens of
Wicomico and Worcester counties, praying the passage of a
stay Law.

Which was referred to the Committee on Judicial Pro-
ceedings.
