FRIDAY, February 7th, 1868.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Eev. Mr. Miller.
Present at roll call:

Messrs. President, Browne, Brewer, Clarke, Carroll, Fields,
Grove, Henkle, Hyland, Lee, Miller, Malone, Parker, of
Calvert,.Spates, Snyder, Walsh, Welch—17.

Mr. Browne presented the circular of Andrew McKenny,
Principal of Eagleton Institute, Carroll county, Maryland.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.

Mr. Malone presented the petition of John Cooper and
others, of Wicomico county, praying the continuance of the
present school system until the 15th of July next.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.

Mr. Clarke asked and obtained leave to withdraw from the
files of the Senate the claim of William H. Lowdermilk, for
printing for 1865.

The President presented two petitions of public school
teachers and citizens of Talbot county, praying the continu-
ance of the present school system until the 15th of July next.

Which were referred to the Committee on Education.

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Baltimore, Har-
ford and Carroll counties to report a bill entitled an Act sup-
plemental to an Act to provide for the restoration of the
records, indexes, dockets and papers destroyed or injured by
fire in the office of the clerk of the Circuit Court for Baltimore
county, passed January session 1867, chapter 234.

Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, reported
favorably Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Mon-
rovia and Liberty Turnpike Road Company.

Which was read the first time.
Also,

Senate bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act passed
at January session, 1866, chapter 55, entitled an Act to
incorporate the Baltimore and Liberty Turnpike Road Com-
pany in Carroll county, and to amend the title of said Act of
