The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.

Present at roll call:
Messrs. President, Browne, Brewer, Clarke, Carroll, Fields,
Grove, Hyland, Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Spates Snyder,
Welch—14.
Mr. Grove presented the memorial of the President and
Directors of the Virginia and Maryland Bridge Company.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpora-
tions.
On motion by Mr. Clarke,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to promote the efficiency of the Or-
phans' Court of Baltimore county.
On motion by Mr. Walsh, it was
Ordered, That the Committee on Internal Improvements
be and it is hereby directed to inquire into the condition of
the several turnpike roads running to the city of Baltimore,
as to whether the grades upon said turnpike roads are such
as are required by their respective charters, and whether the
beds of said roads are kept in such order as the convenience
and comfort of those using them demands, and which their
charters also require ; and if on proper investigation such is
proved not to be the case, to report what further legislation,
if any, is necessary to enforce the provisions of the charters
of the above mentioned turnpike roads, and that said com-
mittee have power to send for persons and papers.
On motion by Mr. Spates,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill to repeal the 18th section of Article 1, of the
Code of Public Local Laws for Allegany county, and to
re-enact the same with amendments.
On motion by Mr. Grove,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to be entitled an Act to repeal the
Act to repeal section 9, of Article 38, of the Code of Public
General Laws, relating to fees of officers, passed January
session, 1865, chapter 131, and to substitute therefor the fol-
lowing.
