The whole subject was laid on the table.

The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the

day,

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled
an Act to increase the number of Free Scholarships in the
Baltimore Female College, and to change the manner of ap-
pointing the beneficiaries and Board of Trustees.

Said bill being upon a third reading,

The bill was then read a third time, and rejected by yeas
and nays (for want of constitutional majority) as follows :

On motion of Mr. Poteet,

The vote by which the hill was rejected, was reconsidered
and the bill made the order of the day for Tuesday next, at
one o'clock, P. M.

Mr. Syester, from select committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Commission-
ers of Washington county to purchase the field notes, books
and records of surveys heretofore made within the limits of
said county, and to levy such tax as may be necessary to
defray the expenses of such purchase.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Beck, from select committee, reported favorably a
bill entitled an Act to amend the 14th section of the Act
