MONDAY, February 3d, 1868.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Miller.
Present at roll call :

Messrs. President, Browne, Brewer, Carroll, Fields, Hy-
land, Kimmel, Lee, Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Snyder,
Smith, Welch—13.

Mr. Hyland presented the petition of citizens of Somerset
county, relating to the Fairmount Academy.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.

Mr. Lee presented the petition of the vestry of Zion Parish,
of Prince George's county.

Which was referred to the Committee on Judicial Pro-
ceedings.

Mr. Kimmel presented the memorial of the Trustees of the
Manual Labor School of Baltimore county.

Which was referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Smith, from a select committee, reported Senate bill
entitled an Act to permit the citizens of Hooper's Island,
Dorchester county, to shoot and take wild fowl from sink
boats, blinds, and otherwise, for home consumption.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Welch, from a select committee, reported Senate bill
entitled an Act to repeal a proviso in the fourth, section of
the Act passed at January session, 1857, chapter 150, enti-
tled an Act to amend the charter of the Kent county Rail
Road Company, to secure the completion of said road by the
issuing of additional bonds of the company, and to provide
for the payment of the State's subscription for stock in said
company, to waive the State's lien relating to the State's
payment of one-fourth of her subscription for stock in one
year, and to re-enact the said section as amended.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Carroll presented the petition of John B. Piet and
others.

Which was referred to the Committee on Corporations.

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend an Act to incorporate
the Mutual Insurance Company of Allegany county, passed
at December session, 1847, chapter three, and the several
