ANNAPOLIS, January 29, 1868.
To the Honorable,
The President of the Senate :
SIR :—The Senate at its last session ordered that 5,000
copies of a work entitled "A succinct exposition of the in-
dustrial resources and agricultural advantages of Maryland,"
which by its order I had furnished for publication, should be
placed at my disposal for distribution in the discharge of my
duties as State Immigrant Agent of Maryland. This office,
created by the last Legislature to exist for two years, was
abolished by the action of the late Constitutional Convention,
before half of its allotted time had expired, and there yet re-
mains in my hands a large number of copies of the above
work not yet distributed, which I respectfully return through
you to the Honorable Body from which I received them, that
it may take whatever action it may deem proper in the prem-
ises.

Which was read, and,
On motion by Mr. Earle, it was
Ordered, That the report from, the Immigrant Agent of
the State of Maryland be referred to the Committee on Labor
and Agriculture, and the copies of the reports on the Indus-
trial Resources of the State of Maryland be handed over to the
Superintendent of Labor and Agriculture for distribution.

The committee appointed by the joint action of your Hon-
orable Bodies to inform me officially of my re-election as
Treasurer of Maryland, performed that duty, by handing me
the enclosed complimentary note, which I desire shall be
read to your Honorable Bodies.
