The bill was then returned to the House of Delegates.
On motion by Mr. Welch,

The Postmaster was granted leave of absence until next
Monday.

On motion by Mr. Snyder,
The Senate went into Executive Session.

After a short Session the Senate resumed the consideration
of Legislative business.

On motion by Mr. Smith,
The Senate adjourned until to-morrow at 12, M.

WEDNESDAY, January 29, 1868.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Father Burke.
Present at roll call :

Messrs. President, Biggs, Brewer, Clarke, Carroll, Den-
son, Grove, Henkle, Hyland, Hammond, Lee, Miller,
Malone, Parker, of Calvert, Parker, of Worcester, Spates,
Snyder, Smith, Walsh, Welch—19.

Mr. Malone presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Wicomico county, regarding the catching of oysters.

Which was referred to the Committee on the Chesapeake
Bay and its tributaries.

Mr. Biggs presented the memorial of the Rev. W. C.
Wire, and the Board of Trustees of the Burkettsville Female
Seminary.

Which was referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Parker presented the petition of J. R. Franklin, G.
W. Covington and others, praying that the present school
system may be continued in force until July 15, 1868.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.

Mr. Malone presented the petition of Elijah Holloway and
other citizens of Wicomico county, praying the passage of
certain laws regarding tenants and landlords.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.
