any observation made by himself or another touching the
character or fitness for office of any individual.

LVIII.

During the recess of the Legislature, the Senate Chamber.
Committee Booms and President's Room shall be under the
care and control of the Secretary of the Senate.

LIX.

It shall not be necessary in organizing the Senate to re-
quire the presence of any former officers, except the Secretary
and Sergeant-at-Arms, nor shall any others be paid for such
attendance.

On motion by Mr. Snyder, it was

Ordered, That one hundred copies of the rules and orders
just adopted shall be printed for the use of the Senate.

On motion by Mr. Fields, it was

Ordered, That the Chairman of joint Committee on Print-
ing shall see that all printing matter ordered by the Senate
shall be placed in the hands of the Printer, and by him
speedily executed and returned to the Senate.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 129 of the
Acts of 1864 entitled an Act to add additional sections to the
44th Article of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Maryland Hospital," prescribing an additional oath to he
taken by the President, Vice President and Visitors of the
said hospital, and to reinstate the former President, Vice
President and Visitors of the said hospital in office, came up
as the order of the day,

And was read the second time.

On motion by Mr. Snyder,

The word April in third section was stricken out and May
substituted therefor.

The hill was then ordered to he engrossed for a third
reading.

On motion by Mr. Earle,

Leave was granted him to withdraw the joint resolution
requesting the Governor to issue full pardons to all persons
who have been heretofore convicted and are now confined in
the penitentiary for enticing or assisting slaves to escape
from their owners.

Senate hill entitled an Act for the relief of Benjamin
Frost, alias Waters, came up for second reading, and,
