The President laid before the Senate a communication
from the Comptroller of the State in reply to an order of the
Senate,
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
On motion by Mr. Smith,
Leave was granted to the Senators from Wicomico, Talbot
and Dorchester to introduce a bill to repeal chapter 153,
passed at the January session, 1867, to add additional sec-
tions to Article thirty of the Code of Public General Laws
relating to crimes and punishments, and to re-enact the same
with amendments.
On motion by Mr. Smith,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to pay Edward A. Marshall for services rendered
to the Senate and Executive at the extra session of 1861,
Frederick, Maryland.
On motion by Mr. Hyland,
Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Fields until Tuesday
next.
On motion by Mr. Kimmel,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal section four
of Article ninety-three of the Code of Public General Laws
entitled "Testamentary Law," passed March 24, 1865, and
relating to sales of real estate by order of Orphans' Courts,
to come in after section three hundred and twenty-eight of
said article, and to insert in said Article in lieu of the section
so repealed the following section relating to sales of real
estate by order of Orphans' Courts :
On motion by Mr. Kimmel,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill entitled an Act to repeal the eighty-
ninth section of Article sixteen of the Code of Public Gen-
eral laws entitled "Chancery," and relating to process
against non-resident infant defendants, as amended by the
Act of 1864. chapter 89, and to insert in said Article in lieu
of the section so repealed the following section relating to
process against non-resident infant defendants :
