Said bill was then sent to the House of Delegates.

The bill entitled an Act to amend an Act, entitled an Act
to incorporate the President and Directors of the Howard
Fire Insurance Company, of Baltimore,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The following message from the House of Delegates was
received and read:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January T, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

The Hon. Oden Bowie having been elected Governor of
this State, we propose with the concurrence of your Honorable
Body the appointment of a joint committee of the two Houses
to wait on him and request his attendance on Wednesday,
8th inst., at 2 o'clock, in the Senate Chamber to qualify ac-
cording to the Constitution and form of government of the
State. We have appointed Messrs. McElroy, Latrobe, Keech,
Brown and Chapman as said Committee on the part of the
House of Delegates, to meet such gentlemen as may be se-
lected by your Honorable Body.

On motion by Mr. Earle,

The following message was sent to the House of Dele-
gates.

BY THE SENATE,

January 8, 1868.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message informing us of the elec-
tion of Hon. Oden Bowie, as Governor of the State of Mary-
land, and asking the appointment of a joint committee of
the two houses to inform him of his election. We concur
therein, and have appointed on the part of the Senate,
Messrs. Earle, Carroll and Snyder.
