Senate, to visit the Maryland Institute and School of De-
sign, to inspect the same and report to their respective
Houses concerning the condition and wants of said Insti-
tute. And we have named as said committee on the part of
this House Messrs. Colton, Syester, Brown, Poteet, Mitchell,
Wentz and Holloway.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :

BY THE SENATE,

January 23, 1868.
G-entlemen of the House of Delegates :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable
Body, that the report of the Superintendent of " Labor and
Agriculture" be referred to a joint committee of the two
Houses, to consist of five members of the Senate and seven
of the House of Delegates, with instructions to report a bill
for the organization of the " Department of Labor and Agri-
culture," and have appointed on the part of the Senate
Messrs. Lee, Hammond, Hyland, Walsh and Denson.

Mr. Syester submitted the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 23, 1868.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your message proposing the appointment

of a committee by this House, to act in conjunction with one
appointed by your Body in relation to the office and duties

of the Superintendent of Agriculture and Labor, and concur
therein, and have appointed on the part of the House
Messrs...Syester, Legg, Nelson, Worthington, Albaugh,
Mearns and Hubbard.
