Section 2, line 2, strike out "eight," and insert four,
and strike out all after the word purchased, in said line, and
insert twelve hundred and fifty.

Add the following two sections after the 5th section of the
bill:

SEC. 6. Be it enacted, That William H, Tuck, William T.
Iglehart, Lewis Mayer, Daniel M. Henry, and Henry
Asquith, Esquires, be, and they are hereby appointed Com-
missioners, with power and authority to prepare a Code of
the Laws of this State, embracing the Constitution of Mary-
land, the laws in the first and second volumes of the Code
prepared by the Hons. Otho Scott and Hiram McCullough,
with references to the Acts therein codified, the Acts of As-
sembly passed since its adoption, those of the present session,
of the session of 1870, and of any special session that may
be had in the meantime, of a Public General and a Public
Local character, with references to said Acts, and to the de-
cisions of the Court of Appeals touching the Constitution,
the present Code, and the Acts above mentioned, rules of
interpretation, a full and copious index and table of contents,
with marginal notes, after the manner of Brighton's Digest,
the same to consist of two volumes, printed on good white
paper, of equal quality with that on which the volumes of
the present Code are printed, and bound in good law sheep,
to be completed on or before the first day of January, 1871.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said Code, when com-
pleted, shall be submitted to the Judges of the Court of
Appeals, who are hereby requested to examine the same,
and if they, or a majority of them, shall be of opinion that
the work is properly done, and shall so certify to the State
Librarian, he shall receive from the said Commissioners
three hundred copies of each volume thereof, to be disposed
of as the Legislature shall direct; and on the certificate of
the Librarian, that said copies have been so delivered to him,
the Comptroller shall issue his warrant on the Treasurer for
the payment to the said Commissioners of the sum of thir-
teen thousand dollars, in full satisfaction therefor.

Add the following words to the title :

And to provide for codifying the statute laws of this State,

Which were severally read and adopted, and

The bill as amended rejected for want of a eonstitutional
majority by yeas and nays as follows :
