Ordered, That leave of absence be granted to Mr. Percy
for to-day.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Mullin submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Clerk be, and he is hereby directed to
send to the Governor for safe keeping in the Executive De-
partment, the maps accompanying the report of the Joint
Committee appointed by the General Assembly at its last
session, to meet a similar Committee appointed by the Legis-
lature of Virginia to settle and adjust the boundary line on
the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, between the States
of Maryland and Virginia.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Coudy submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the compensation of the Chief Clerk and
Reading Clerk and Engrossing Clerk of this House, be fixed
at ten dollars per day.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Pentland submitted the following order :

Ordered, That this House until the close of the sessions,
will sit from 10 A. M. until 2 1/2 P. M., and then take a recess
until 4 1/2 P. M., and sit until 6 1/2 P. M., and then meet again
at 8 P. M, unless otherwise ordered.

Which was read.

Mr. Wentz submitted the following amendment :

Strike out 2 1/2 and insert 3, strike out 4 1/2 and insert 4.
Which was rejected.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the
order,

It was adopted.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, submitted the following
message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES.

March 27, 1868.

Gentlemen of the Senate :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
to appoint a Joint Committee, to consist of two on the part
of the Senate, and three on the part of the House, whose duty
shall be, in the event of the non-enactment of a General
School Law, by this General Assembly, to report a school
system, or systems, for the consideration of the Legislature at
their next meeting.
