1026 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 23,

Ordered, That Mr. Offutt have leave of absence for this
day.
Which was adopted.

Mr. Latrobe, acting Chairman of the Committee on Ways
and Means, reported favorably

The Senate bill entitled an Act to exempt from State and
city taxation the real and personal property of the German
Protestant Association of the city of Baltimore.

Which was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

Also, reported favorably

The Senate bill entitled an Act to organize and regu-
late the department of labor and agriculture pursuant
to the 10th Article of the Constitution, with proposed amend-
ment.

Said bill being upon a second reading,

Mr. Coudy submitted the following amendment:
Strike out section 5.
Which was rejected.

Amendment proposed by the Committee on Ways and
Means:

Section 19, line 2, strike out the words "twenty-five" be-
fore the word hundred, and insert the word fifteen.

Which was adopted.
The bill as amended,

Was then read a second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

The joint resolutions authorizing the State Librarian to
furnish the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Charles county,
certain reports therein named for the use of said court,

Were read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Maryland Hospital for Wicomico county.

Which was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
pay sundry parties hereinafter named, for publishing the
Public General Laws, passed at January session of 1866 and
1867,
