interests in, or knowledge of some lottery not authorized by the
Laws of this state, might be had and obtained within this state ;
which indictment, according to the form here given, shall be
deemed good and sufficient in law.
Is there not an error in referring to the sections of this bill, as to fram-
ing the form of the indictments in the three preceding sections ?

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That whenever any person or
persons shall be found guilty of a violation of any of the pro-
visions of this act, or of any other of the laws relating to lotte-
ries, or to the sale of lottery tickets in this state, a certificate
setting forth the fact, shall be published at the expense of the
state, in at least two newspapers in the city of Baltimore, one at
Annapolis, one at Easton, one at Frederick, and one at Hagers-
town, by the clerk of the court in which such person or persons
shall be convicted.

A general
penalty.
|
SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That if any person or persons
shall be guilty of a violation of any of the provisions of this
act, or of any other of the laws relating to lotteries, or to the
sale of lottery tickets in this state, the penalty for which may
not be expressly provided, he, she or they, shall be liable to in-
dictment in the proper city or county court, as the case may be,
and upon conviction, shall forfeit and pay for each and every
such offence, in the discretion of the court, a sum not exceeding
five hundred dollars, one moiety to the use of the informer, and
the other moiety to the use of the state as aforesaid.
SEC. 17. Relates to past violations.

SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
several county courts, and of the city court of Baltimore, to give
this act in charge to their respective grand juries, at each suc-
cessive term of their said courts, respectively.

Repeal.
|
SEC. 19. And be it enacted. That the last section of the
act, passed at December session, eighteen hundred and twenty-
six, chapter two hundred and sixty-eight, entitled, an act requir-
ing the commissioners of lotteries to give bond, be, and the
same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 184.
AN ACT to continue in force the Acts of Assembly which would expire
with the present session.

Continued.
|
Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland That
all such acts, and parts of acts as would expire with the
present session of assembly, be and the same are hereby con-
tinued to the last Monday of December next, and to the end of
the then session of assembly.
