Executive
to appoint
librarian.
|
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the executive shall
appoint some qualified person as librarian, whose duty it shall
be to collect all books, maps and documents aforesaid, and
deposite the same in the manner provided by the first section
of this act ; and the librarian so appointed, previous to entering
upon the duties of his office, shall give bond to the state of
Maryland, in such sum, and with such security, as the execu-
tive may deem sufficient, for the safe keeping of such books,
maps, documents, and furniture of the room, in which the same
may be deposited and confided to his care, and also for the
faithful discharge of his trust, according to such regulations as
may from time to time be established under the authority of
this act, which said bond shall be deposited in the executive
chamber.

SEC, 4. And be it further enacted, That no book, map or
document, shall be allowed to be taken out of said library,
except by the executive, members of the general assembly, and
judges of the court of appeals.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That the librarian shall
annually receive for his services a salary not exceeding two
hundred and twenty-five dollars.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the sum of two him-
dred dollars be appropriated annually, for the purchase of books
and maps, for the augmentation of the aforesaid library, which
shall be laid out under the direction of a joint committee of
three members of the senate, and three from the house of
delegates, to be appointed for that purpose.

CHAPTER 55.
AN ACT to repeal part of an Act of Assembly* therein mentioned.
Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That so
much of the fourth section of the act of assembly, passed at
November session, in the year eighteen hundred and one, enti-
tled, an act to regulate the inspection of tobacco, as requires the
inspectors to hold assessable property in the state, to the value
of eight hundred dollars, be and the same is hereby repealed.
