may deem reasonable and just ; and the said levy court are
authorized and directed to levy such additional sum on the
assessable property of said county as other county and city
charges are.

CHAPTER 246.

 

AN ACT, entitled, a SUPPLEMENT to the ACT,* laying duties on licenses to
retailers of Dry Goods and for other purposes.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That so much of the fifth section of the original act to which
this is a supplement, as excepts a person obtaining a license for
retailing of wine, rum, brandy, whiskey or other distilled spiri-
tuous liquors from taking out a. license for retailing of dry goods
as provided by the said law, be and the same is hereby repealed.
This section is merged in 1827, ch. 117.
SEC. 2, 3, 4. Are merged in 1826, ch. 267; and 1827, ch. 117, sec. 13.

CHAPTER 250.

A further SUPPLEMENT to the ACT, entitled, an Act relating to Insolvent
Debtors in the city and county of Baltimore.

Repeal.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That in all cases of applications for the benefit of the insolvent
laws before the commissioners of insolvent debtors for the city
and county of Baltimore, or before Baltimore county court, in
which the petitioner may fail to appear on the days required by
law, that the said commissioners or Baltimore county court, as
the case may be, shall have power in their discretion, if they
believe such failure not to have been designed for fraudulent
purposes, to continue the case of such petitioner upon their
docket until some other convenient day, whereof such notice
shall be given by the said petitioner as they shall direct.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in all cases in which such
failure may have heretofore taken place, (provided the said com-
missioners or Baltimore county court shall be satisfied it did not
arise from a fraudulent design on the part of the petitioner,) the-
said petitioner shall be and he is hereby authorized to prosecute
a new petition for the benefit of said insolvent laws.

any county court for the purpose of dividing real estate in the
manner provided for by the act to which this is a supplement,
